About us

From ancestral lands, for the spirit of adventure

PT Wisata Puncak Nemangkawi is an adventure tourism company based in Central Papua, Indonesia.

We are proud to be the only expedition operator to Carstensz Pyramid (Puncak Nemangkawi) that is fully owned and managed by the indigenous Amungme people — the original stewards of Papua’s highlands.

Who we are

We are more than just a trekking company. We are mountain people, born and raised in the shadow of the Sudirman Range. With deep local knowledge and cultural wisdom, we combine traditional values with international safety standards to offer an authentic, safe and meaningful climbing experience.

Amungme

Indigenous ownership

PT Wisata Puncak Nemangkawi was founded by Amungme elders and youth with a bold vision: to make sure that climbing our sacred mountain is not merely an adventure, but a respectful journey into our heritage.

We believe tourism must benefit local communities directly — through economic opportunity, education and cultural preservation.

Our vision

To make Puncak Nemangkawi a symbol of Papuan pride and a world-class adventure destination, while preserving our natural and cultural heritage.

Our mission

  • Provide safe, professional access to Carstensz Pyramid
  • Empower local communities through sustainable tourism
  • Preserve the culture and values of the Amungme people
  • Bridge the gap between the outside world and our ancestral land

Our commitments

01Climber safety

Climber safety is our top priority.

02Environmental conservation

Zero-waste practices and education on every expedition.

03Cultural partnership

Cultural partnership in every expedition.

04Cultural education

So every climber understands the spiritual meaning of the mountain.
